When placing a tutor with a student we take into consideration both the student’s academic needs, their personal interests, and their social/emotional needs. Parents complete an extensive intake form either online or over the phone, and credentialed teachers use that information to carefully consider the tutor who will be the best match. We consider the following important factors:

• Student age and grade level
• Student learning style, including the eight types of “intelligence” identified in multiple intelligence theory: Spatial, linguistic, logical-mathematical, bodily-kinesthetic, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, and naturalistic
• Student’s feelings about school and learning
• Student interests, hobbies, and preferences
• Additional learning needs, challenges, or gifts
